Relay for Life of Surprise, AZ is back for another amazing year. This year's event will be held on Saturday March 31st, 2012 at Valley Vista High School. This year's theme is "FIGHT NIGHT" (UFC-style). You can register as an individual, start your own team or join a team that has already been registered. Or if you don't want to be a participant, you can simply stop by for a visit--it is a family-fun environment open to the public until midnight.
Registered participants form teams and take shifts walking the track, manning our team's booth, watching entertainment and raising awareness for all cancers. At 9 p.m. we turn off the lights and light candles in honor of our loved ones who have fought cancer. Then we walk a silent lap and illuminate the track with hope. At midnight we kick out the public (sorry guests) and get the party for the participants started with pizza and more! Most of the participants stay up all night helping to fight back against cancer by raising money in various competitive team events. Cancer never sleeps, and for one night we won't either!
Relay for Life is not a race. We don't run--we walk. Though we do occasionally skip and dance (when the music and lack of sleep hits us just right).
We also have Relay "CASH CAB" and you can take a ride answering trivia questions while making laps around the track for your team. And if you get stumped on a question, just ask someone nearby using a Track Shout Out or grab your cell phone for a Mobile Shout Out.
Relay for Life is a ton of fun for the entire family, children and adults of all ages, cancer survivors, care givers, and anyone interested in raising money to help find a cure."
